★ The target date for the B50 biodiesel programme has been set for 1 October 2026. Indonesia has already reached 75–80% of the target. The impact of El Niño may be seen in 2027.
★ In 2027, palm oil production could increase by 2.9% to reach 56.8 million tonnes. However, due to the impact of El Niño, production could decline by around 3 million tonnes in 2027.

Argentine Ambassador
★ In terms of edible oil imports, Argentina is India’s number-one exporting country.
★ In 2025, Argentina crushed 4.2 million tonnes of soybean and 4.6 million tonnes of sunflower seed.
★ The Argentine government recently increased export duties on agricultural products, while the Indian government reduced import duties, which could help increase trade between the two countries.
★ In 2025, soybean exports reached USD 3.7 billion, while sunflower oil exports reached USD 800 million.

★ Malaysia has been India’s largest exporting country for palm oil for the past 13 years.
★ In 2025, Malaysia exported 2.26 million tonnes of palm oil to India, which was 40% higher than in 2024.
★ In Malaysia’s agricultural sector, palm oil accounts for the largest share of trade. In 2026, production reached 20.28 million tonnes, while exports were valued at USD 2.8 billion.
