Govt Eases Wheat Procurement in Rajasthan; MSP Now ₹2575/Quintal
★ In light of the wheat crop being affected by extreme heat and unseasonal rainfall in Rajasthan, the Central Government has announced significant relaxations in procurement standards. This decision brings major relief to farmers, as they will now be able to sell even slightly lower-quality wheat at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relaxations in Procurement Standards:
1. Shriveled or Broken Grains: Earlier, only up to 6% of shriveled or broken grains were acceptable. This limit has now been increased to 20%.
2. Damaged Grains: The combined proportion of damaged and slightly damaged grains must not exceed 6%.
3. Luster Loss Wheat: Due to the impact of rain and heat, the quantity of wheat with luster loss had increased. The government has now allowed procurement of grains with up to 10% luster loss.
4. No Deductions: The government has clarified that no deductions will be made on the wheat purchased under these relaxations.
Storage and Distribution of Wheat:
★ Wheat purchased under these relaxations will be stored separately from normal wheat.
★ This wheat will not be sent outside the state and will be used on a priority basis before the regular-quality wheat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
MSP Bonus Announcement:
★ The Central Government has fixed this year’s MSP for wheat at ₹2425 per quintal.
★ The Rajasthan Government has announced an additional bonus of ₹150 per quintal, allowing farmers to sell wheat at a total price of ₹2575 per quintal.

Major Benefits to Farmers:
★ These relaxations will enable farmers to sell their entire crop, even if the quality is slightly compromised.
★ Farmers will no longer be forced to sell at throwaway prices.
★ With the added bonus and increased MSP, farmers will receive financial relief and better returns for their produce.
