International Corn Market
According to the export inspection report, a total of 1.463 million metric tons (57.6 crore bushels) of corn was shipped in the week ending March 20. This was 16.57% higher than the same period last year but 13.54% lower than the previous week. Mexico was the top destination, receiving 474,491 metric tons of corn, followed by Japan with 412,434 metric tons and South Korea with 136,336 metric tons.
So far in the marketing year, total exports have reached 32.268 million metric tons (1.27 billion bushels), marking a 32% increase compared to last year.
In Brazil, the second corn crop planting was recently completed. According to AgRural, the Safrinha crop estimate remains at 87.9 million metric tons, consistent with their previous forecast. However, concerns have been raised regarding irregular rainfall. The total crop estimate has been increased by 0.6 million metric tons to 121.8 million metric tons.
