International Corn Market
According to the NASS Crop Progress report, 97% of the US corn crop has been planted, in line with the 5-year average. Emergence reached 90%, compared to the 5-year average of 88%. The crop condition rating was 71% good to excellent, up 3 percentage points from the previous week. The Brugler500 index score improved by 3 points to 378. Rain is expected in parts of South Dakota, Minnesota, and northern Iowa as well as the southern part of the Corn Belt in the coming week.
Weekly Export Inspection data showed that the US exported 1.656 million tons (65.22 million bushels) of corn in the week ending June 5. This was 0.9% higher than the previous week and 23.55% more than the same week last year. Mexico was the largest destination with 469,120 tons, followed by Taiwan with 287,774 tons and South Korea with 200,434 tons. Total marketing year shipments now stand at 50.3 million tons (1.98 billion bushels), 28.54% above the same period last year.
According to AgRural, the second corn crop harvest in Brazil’s central-south region was 1.9% complete as of Sunday. Ukraine’s APK-Inform agency reduced its corn production estimate by 210,000 tons to 24.9 million tons.
