ICE cotton futures closed slightly weaker on Tuesday, with nearby contracts seeing a decline of up to 28 points. However, external factors provided some support. Crude oil futures rose by 9 cents per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index fell by $0.081.
According to a Bloomberg analysts' survey, the prospective planting report set to be released next Monday may show cotton acreage at 9.9 million acres, with an estimated range between 8.8 and 10.5 million acres.
As per The Seam, 672 bales were sold online on March 24 at an average price of 54.91 cents per pound.
The Cotlook A Index dropped 75 points on Monday to settle at 77.50 cents per pound.
ICE cotton stocks remained steady on March 21, with certified stock levels currently at 14,488 bales.
Last Thursday afternoon, the USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased by 87 points, reaching 54.63 cents per pound.
