Kharif Sowing Accelerates in India, Strong Surge in Paddy and Pulses Cultivation
★ Total Sown Area Reaches 258.57 Lakh Hectares:
★ According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of June 27, the total sown area under kharif crops has reached 258.57 lakh hectares, which is 11.5% higher than the 231.84 lakh hectares recorded during the same period last year.

Sharp Increase in Paddy and Pulses Sowing:
★ Paddy sowing rose by 47.3% to 35.02 lakh hectares (last year: 23.78 lakh hectares)

Status of Major Pulses:
★ Total pulses area surged by 34% to 19.28 lakh hectares (last year: 14.40 lakh hectares)
★ Urad: 2.35 lakh hectares (last year: 1.42)
★ Moong: 8.58 lakh hectares (last year: 4.30)
★ Arhar: 8.35 lakh hectares (last year: 8.67) — down 3.7%

★ Total oilseeds sowing: 47.83 lakh hectares (up 19.8%)
★ Soybean: 32.04 lakh hectares (last year: 31.78)
★ Groundnut: 15.79 lakh hectares (last year: 8.14)
★ Sunflower: 0.39 lakh hectares (last year: 0.37)

Coarse Cereals on the Rise:
★ Total coarse cereals area: 41.14 lakh hectares (last year: 33.28) — up 23.6%
★ Maize: 23.69 lakh hectares (11% increase)
★ Jowar: 2.70 lakh hectares (75.7% increase)
★ Bajra: 14.76 lakh hectares (41.9% increase)

★ Cotton acreage fell to 54.66 lakh hectares (down 8.8%)
★ Jute and Mesta: 5.47 lakh hectares (down 3%)

★ Sugarcane sowing reached 55.16 lakh hectares (last year: 54.88)
★ Overall, the timely onset of the monsoon and early rainfall has enabled farmers to begin sowing on time. This strengthens the outlook for increased kharif crop production this season.
