Mumbai. In the international market, during the week of January 15 compared to January 8, the prices of urad and desi chana increased, while the prices of lentils and green peas softened.
Kabuli chana prices also declined. Similarly, the prices of red lentils and yellow peas remained weak, but the price of tur (pigeon peas) remained stable or showed a slight increase. India imports tur, urad, desi chana, lentils, and yellow peas.
During the week under review, the export offer price of urad for shipment to India, on a CNF basis for January-February delivery, improved from $940 to $945 per ton in Brazil and from $790 to $525 per ton in Myanmar.
On the other hand, the offer price of green lentils in Canada for January-February shipment to India fell from $640 to $635 per ton, while the price of red lentils also slipped from $550 to $545 per ton. The offer price of Australian red lentils remained unchanged at the previous level of $525 per ton.
As for yellow peas, the CNF offer price for shipment to India remained stable at the previous level of $360 per ton in Canada, but it fell from $340 to $335 per ton in Russia and Ukraine.
The export offer price of tur (pigeon peas) showed some fluctuations. The offer price in Tanzania fell from $575 to $570 per ton and remained stable at $650 per ton in Mozambique, while it jumped from $790 to $810 per ton in Myanmar and increased from $590 to $600 per ton in Malawi.
The export offer price of Indian Kabuli chana registered a decline of $10 per ton each for Turkey and the UAE.
