Bhopal. With the start of harvesting and preparation of the new crop of summer (Zaid season) moong and urad in Madhya Pradesh, the government has started the process of purchasing it from the farmers at the minimum support price.
The Agriculture Department of Madhya Pradesh has said that the registration of farmers willing to sell their pulses at the support price has already been done and from June 24, the process of purchasing moong in 32 districts of the state and urad in 10 districts has started, which will continue till the end of next month i.e. 31 July 2024. Purchase centers have been activated for this.
Experts say that government agencies are not expected to get any special success in the purchase of urad as its open market price is running higher than the government support price. In areas where the price of moong is below the minimum support price, its government purchase can be done there.
