News Capsule: Malaysia lowers November crude palm oil (CPO) reference price but keeps export duty at 10%
★ Malaysia, the world’s second-largest palm oil exporter, has reduced the reference price for crude palm oil for November to RM 4,262.23 (about US$1,008.10 per metric tonne). In October, the reference price was RM 4,268.68 per tonne, which also attracted a 10% export duty.
★ According to Malaysia’s export tax structure, crude palm oil is taxed at 3% when prices range between RM 2,250 and RM 2,400 per tonne, while the maximum tax rate of 10% applies when prices exceed RM 4,050 per tonne.
