Rajasthan Kharif Sowing Crosses 129 Lakh Hectares

Jaipur. Supported by favorable monsoon and weather conditions, the sowing of Kharif crops in Rajasthan has gained strong momentum this year. As per data from the state agriculture department, the total Kharif crop area in Rajasthan reached 129.41 lakh hectares by July 14, which is 37.09 lakh hectares more than the 92.32 lakh hectares recorded during the same period last year.
Except for soybean, all major Kharif crops have recorded an increase in area. Last year, the monsoon arrived in Rajasthan in early July, but this year it arrived in June, accelerating the pace of sowing.
Cereal crops, including paddy, expanded from 38.96 lakh hectares to 55.89 lakh hectares. Pulses rose from 17.27 to 30.13 lakh hectares, oilseeds increased from 17.94 to 19.47 lakh hectares, and cotton grew from 4.85 to 6.20 lakh hectares. Guar sowing also rose sharply from 10.89 to 15.11 lakh hectares.
Among cereals, the area under paddy rose from 1.66 to 2.25 lakh hectares, jowar from 4.86 to 5.91 lakh hectares, millet from 24.28 to 38.57 lakh hectares, and maize from 8.15 to 9.14 lakh hectares.
In pulses, moong area surged from 11.81 to 19.28 lakh hectares, moth from 2.68 to 7.47 lakh hectares, black gram from 2.34 to 2.72 lakh hectares, choula from 41,000 to 57,000 hectares, and tuvar from 3,000 to 10,000 hectares.
In oilseeds, sesame expanded from 94,000 to 1.44 lakh hectares and groundnut from 6.71 to 8.61 lakh hectares. However, soybean area declined from 10.25 to 9.29 lakh hectares. Sowing of castor also increased.
