Indore. Madhya Pradesh Kabuli Chana Association, an important organization of the pulses sector, has sent a letter to Union Food,

Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Prahlad Joshi, requesting to keep Kabuli chana out of the scope of storage limit (stock limit).

The association has said in its letter that on June 21, 2024, the government had issued an order announcing the imposition of storage limit on tuvar and gram and included Kabuli chana along with desi chana in it. According to the association,

Kabuli chana is an agricultural product, most of which is exported abroad, due to which the country gets valuable foreign exchange. In the domestic sector,

Kabuli chana is not used as a dal but as a grocery commodity. The letter signed by association president Dilip Aggarwal said that for export purpose, traders-exporters always have to keep a huge stock of chickpeas as the shipment quantity in one consignment is between 200 to 1000 tonnes.

The imposition of stock limits will bring the export business to a halt and domestic producers will also be deprived of getting remunerative prices.
