SEA Hopes for Reduction in Edible Oil Imports from Nepal  
★ Under the March 18, 2025 notification by the Customs Department, "Proof of Origin" will now be mandatory instead of the "Certificate of Origin" for imports under concessional duty.  
★ This move is expected to reduce the illegal import of edible oils from Nepal and other SAARC countries.  
★ According to SEA, the massive import of refined soybean and palm oil from Nepal is harming domestic refiners and farmers, causing significant revenue losses for the government.
