Indore. The data released by Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA), a leading industry body, after surveying 89 lakh hectares of area in 38 districts of three top producing states - Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, shows that the total production area of soybean at the national level has reached 115.21 lakh hectares, which is 4.30 lakh hectares less than the government figure of 119.51 lakh hectares.
According to SOPA, this time the sowing area of soybean has reached 48.64 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh, 48.20 lakh in Maharashtra, 9.07 lakh in Rajasthan, 4.22 lakh in Karnataka, 2.73 lakh in Gujarat, 1.42 lakh in Telangana, about 14 thousand in Chhattisgarh and 79 thousand hectares in other states of the country.
The sowing process has reached its final stage. According to the report of SOPA, the soybean crop in Jalna, Buldhana, Beed, Latur, Hingoli, Nanded and Parbhani districts of Maharashtra is in good condition and is growing normally, but in some areas of Washim, Akola and Amravati, the height of the plants is still low because either sowing was done late or re-sowing was required.
In Malwa division of Madhya Pradesh, about 70 percent of soybean crop is about to start flowering and its condition is normal.
However, compared to last year, this time there has been some reduction in the sowing area of soybean in Ashok Nagar, Guna, Harda, Betul, Khandwa and Khargone districts.
Due to continuous rain in Harda district, sowing of soybean was not possible in about 20 percent area due to water accumulation in the fields, while some problem with the crop is also being seen in the lower areas of Ashok Nagar, Guna, Sagar and Vidisha districts.
The crop is in good condition in Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh and Baran districts of Rajasthan but the area in Jhalawar has decreased by 20 percent. In Kota also the crop is weak due to heavy rain. At the national level, the overall condition of soybean crop is satisfactory.
