Weekly Review – Masoor (Red Lentil)
Prices of domestic Masoor improve due to rising demand

Masoor prices trended upwards during the current week, driven by improved demand and a slowdown in selling at lower price levels. The domestic market found support from limited availability at lower rates and increased demand from pulse mills. The global Masoor market is expected to remain stable to firm in the coming months. While Masoor production in Canada for the 2026-27 season is projected to drop by 27% to approximately 2.47 million tonnes, record production is anticipated in Australia. Canada reported a carry-over stock of 1.28 million tonnes at the start of the new season; however, trade analysts estimate the actual carry-over stock to be around 0.5 million tonnes. Based on this, the total availability in Canada for the 2026-27 season is estimated at around 3.33 million tonnes. Currently, harvesting remains to be completed on about 25% of the Masoor acreage in Canada. Consequently, the global supply scenario will become clearer once figures regarding actual crop yield and carry-over stocks are released. With limited selling by importers, prices of imported Masoor remained unchanged during the week; rates held steady at ₹5,950–₹6,025 per quintal (Mundra, vessel), ₹6,075 (Hazira), and ₹6,500 (Mumbai container, Canadian origin) and ₹6,400 (Mumbai container, Australian origin).
