Prices of domestic Masoor recorded a decline during the current week due to increased selling at higher price levels and subdued buying interest. Conversely, imported Masoor prices witnessed a significant rise. Increased selling pressure weakened domestic Masoor prices, whereas limited availability bolstered the upward trend in imported Masoor. Arrivals and supplies of imported Masoor are being affected by disrupted loading operations in Canada and a persistent shortage of containers at major ports. Supply bottlenecks have kept market availability restricted. Meanwhile, selling activity for imported Masoor remains sluggish while demand stays strong. This combination of limited supply and robust demand continues to support imported Masoor prices. Market participants anticipate that the bullish trend in imported Masoor will persist until loading operations in Canada improve and container availability at ports normalizes.

Driven by increased buying amidst limited availability, prices for imported Masoor rose by ₹300 per quintal for container shipments and by ₹100–200 per quintal for vessel shipments. Consequently, prices settled at ₹6,500 (Canadian container) and ₹6,400 (Australian container) in Mumbai; ₹5,950–6,050 (vessel) in Mundra; and ₹6,100 per quintal in Hazira.

Delhi Masoor prices softened by ₹50 per quintal this week due to subdued buying by dal millers. By the weekend, prices stood at ₹7,700 (Chhoti Kota), ₹8,475–8,500 (Bundi), ₹8,900–8,925 (Uttar Pradesh), and ₹6,900 per quintal (Desi Badi).

Due to sluggish buying and selling activity, prices of masoor (red lentil) in Madhya Pradesh fluctuated by up to ₹100 per quintal. By the weekend, prices stood at ₹6,000–₹6,300 in Ashoknagar, ₹6,200–₹6,500 in Bina, ₹6,000–₹6,450 in Ganjbasoda, ₹6,000–₹6,300 in Sagar, ₹6,000–₹6,500 in Damoh, ₹6,100 in Indore, ₹5,500–₹6,685 in Kareli, and ₹6,650 per quintal in Katni.

Sluggish buying led to a decline of ₹50 per quintal in masoor prices in Uttar Pradesh this week. Weekend prices were ₹10,100 (small variety) and ₹6,800 (bold variety) in Bareilly; ₹5,900–₹6,100 (bold) and ₹8,800–₹9,200 (small) in Lalitpur; and ₹5,900–₹6,300 per quintal in Orai.

Prices of masoor in Bihar remained unchanged due to sluggish demand. Weekend prices stood at ₹7,100 in Barh, ₹7,000 in Khusrupur, and ₹7,100 per quintal in Mokama. Meanwhile, Raipur saw a softening of ₹50 in masoor prices, settling at ₹6,500 per quintal.

There was no significant change in masoor dal prices during the current week due to sluggish consumer demand. Weekend prices were ₹7,100–₹7,250 in Indore, ₹7,900–₹8,100 in Barh, ₹7,800–₹8,000 in Khusrupur, ₹7,900–₹8,100 in Mokama, ₹8,700 in Chandausi, and ₹7,550 per quintal in Hyderabad.
