Moong prices rise due to increased demand
New Delhi. Moong prices remained bullish during the current week due to weakening of selling and better demand. Due to the early arrival of the southwest monsoon and increase in the support price, the enthusiasm of farmers in the cultivation of Kharif Moong has increased. As of July 21, 2025, the production area of Moong at the national level has increased by 11% to 27.31 lakh hectares as compared to last year. Rajasthan remains the country's leading state in moong production, where this year the sowing area of Moong has increased by 16 percent to 22.19 lakh hectares. In Karnataka, the area of Moong till July 18 was 4.10 lakh hectares with some improvement, while in Gujarat it has increased from 27 thousand hectares to 33 thousand hectares. In Maharashtra too, the production area of moong has increased to 2.02 lakh hectares, but in Telangana the sowing area has reduced from 58 thousand hectares to 50 thousand hectares. Due to weak selling and increased buying by pulses millers, the prices of Delhi moong have increased by Rs. 150 per quintal during the current week and with this increase the prices have become Madhya Pradesh line Rs. 7500/7550 and Uttar Pradesh line Rs. 7500/7600 per quintal. Due to weak selling and better demand, the price of moong in Rajasthan's mandis witnessed a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and the weekend's price became Jodhpur Rs. 6300/7150, Jaipur Rs. 7000/7600, Nagaur Rs. 6500/7100, Merta Rs. 6500/7200 and Kishangarh Rs. 4000/6900 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to weak selling and better buying, the price of moong in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and the weekend's price became Pipariya Rs. 5500/7550, Indore Rs. 6500/7700, Jabalpur Rs. 5500/7350, Harda Rs. 6000/8100 and Khirkiya Rs. 7500/8000 per quintal.
Maharashtra
Due to increased buying, Maharashtra moong prices witnessed a rise of Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and at the weekend the prices became Latur Rs. 6000/7500, Akola Rs. 6300/8700, Barshi Rs. 6000/7000, Ahmednagar Rs. 5600/7000, Jalgaon Rs. 6200/8250 and Khamgaon Rs. 5000/6500 per quintal.
Others
Due to continued buying, Lalitpur moong prices witnessed a rise of Rs. 250 per quintal this week and with this rise the prices became Rs. 7100/7550 per quintal at the weekend. Similarly, a good increase of Rs. 200 was registered in Rajkot moong and Rs. 400 per quintal in Dahod and with this increase the price reached Rs. 6500/7500 in Rajkot and Rs. 8000/8200 per quintal in Dahod at the end of the week.
Moong dal
Due to support of the rise in moong and increased buying, the prices of moong dal registered a rise of Rs. 200/400 per quintal during the current week and the price became Rs. 9600/11400 in Delhi, Rs. 9100/9800 in Jodhpur, Rs. 9000 in Jaipur, Rs. 8550/9550 in Bhatapara, Rs. 9400/9500 in Jalgaon and Rs. 8800/9600 per quintal in Indore.
