Tuvar prices improve due to increased buying
Mumbai. Tuvar prices improved during the current week due to weakening of selling and improvement in demand. However, buying remained calm during the weekend, due to which prices softened. Due to sluggish demand for Tuvar dal, the buying of Tuvar by dal millers remained limited, due to which pressure is being seen on prices. Sowing of Arhar (Tuvar), the main pulse crop of Kharif season, is lagging behind at the national level this time. According to the Agriculture Ministry, so far the area of Tuvar has been 30.09 lakh hectares, which is less than 31.70 lakh hectares of last year and about 1.5 lakh hectares behind the normal average. In Karnataka, the sowing area has come down from 13.35 lakh hectares to 11.35 lakh hectares. In Maharashtra, this figure slipped from 11.07 lakh hectares to 10.98 lakh hectares. In Gujarat, the area decreased from 1.70 lakh hectare to 1.16 lakh hectare. In Andhra Pradesh also, sowing decreased from 63 thousand hectare to 44 thousand hectare. On the other hand, Telangana was the only state where an increase in sowing was registered. Here, the area of Tuvar has increased from 3.14 lakh hectare to 3.43 lakh hectare. Due to weakening of selling by importers and increase in demand, the price of Tuvar Lemon in Chennai registered an improvement of Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this improvement, the price became Rs. 6300/6325 per quintal at the end of the week. Whereas, no increase or decrease was seen in the prices of Mumbai African Tuvar this week and the price remained stable at the end of the week for Mozambique White Rs. 5800/5850, Gajari Rs. 5600/5650, Matwara Rs. 5600, Malawi Rs. 5500 and Sudan Rs. 6300 per quintal. Burma
Due to weakening of selling by exporters and continued buying, Burma Tuvar prices witnessed a rise of $ 10 per ton this week and with this rise, the price reached $ 725 per ton at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to the support of the rise in the port and improvement in demand, during the current week, Delhi Tuvar Lemon saw an improvement of Rs 50 per quintal and Desi Tuvar also saw an improvement of Rs 50 per quintal and with this improvement, the price reached Rs 6700/6725 for lemon and Rs 6900/7000 for Desi at the weekend.
Maharashtra
Due to weak availability in producer markets and increased buying, Maharashtra tuvar prices witnessed an increase of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the current week and with this increase, the prices at the end of the week became Solapur Rs. 5800/6850, Akola Rs. 6850/7050, Latur Rs. 6600/6720, Nagpur Rs. 6950 and Hinganghat Rs. 6200/6850 per quintal.
Karnataka
Due to increase in buying, Karnataka tuvar prices witnessed an increase of Rs. 100/150 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the prices at the end of the week became Gulbarga Rs. 6400/6800, Raichur Rs. 5423/6552, Bidar Rs. 6414/6955, Yadgir Rs. 5511/6622 and Talikot Rs. 5411/6629 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased buying by dal millers, Madhya Pradesh tuvar prices saw an improvement of Rs 50/75 per quintal this week and with this improvement, the prices at the weekend became Katni Rs 6800/6900, Jabalpur Rs 5000/6600 and Pipariya Rs 5500/6600 per quintal.
Others
Due to increased buying, Kanpur tuvar saw an increase of Rs 100 per quintal this week and the prices became Rs 6700/6750 per quintal at the weekend. While, no increase or decrease was seen in the prices of Raipur tuvar this week and the prices remained stable at Rs 6900/7150 per quintal at the weekend.
Tuvar Dal
Due to sporadic buying, the prices of Tuvar Dal improved by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement, the prices at the weekend remained at Delhi Fatka Rs. 9800/10375, Katni Fatka Rs. 8950/9400, Akola Rs. 9200/10500, Latur Fatka Rs. 10000/10200, Gulbarga Fatka Rs. 9300/10000 and Kanpur Fatka Rs. 10300/10500 per quintal.
