Mixed trend in mustard prices despite strong arrival of new goods
Mixed Trends Amidst Rising Arrivals
Despite a sharp rise in the supply of new mustard crops from key producing states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana, mustard prices showed a mixed trend. Increased arrivals exerted downward pressure on prices in some markets, while others saw price support due to steady demand from millers and stockists.
Bikaner (Rajasthan): Prices rose by ₹500, reaching ₹5,200-5,500 per quintal.
Bundi (Rajasthan): Prices declined by ₹175 to ₹5,200-5,700 per quintal.
42% Condition Mustard Prices
Delhi: Steady at ₹6,000 per quintal.
Jaipur: Increased by ₹50 to ₹6,050 per quintal.
Haryana: Mild softening in prices.
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Increased by ₹200 to ₹5,700-5,800 per quintal.
Price Outlook & Government Support
The Central Government has raised the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of mustard by ₹300, from ₹5,650 to ₹5,950 per quintal. However, mandi prices continue to trade below the MSP in most regions.
Arrival Trends
The average daily arrival of mustard has surged to 13-14 lakh bags (50 kg each), with expectations of further increases as harvesting gains momentum.
Mustard Oil Market
Mustard oil prices mostly declined:
Delhi Expeller: Down by ₹15 to ₹1,275 per 10 kg.
Charkhi Dadri: Fell by ₹15 to ₹1,305 per 10 kg.
Agra (Kachi Ghani): Dropped by ₹30 to ₹1,360 per 10 kg.
Mustard Cake (DOC) & Demand
At lower price levels, strong buying interest emerged for mustard cake:
Prices increased by ₹70-130 per quintal due to demand from animal feed manufacturers.
Mustard DOC improved to ₹1,300 per ton, driven by feed millers and export demand.
With the start of government procurement, mustard prices may see some upward movement.
