Paddy-rice prices soften due to weak demand from millers and exporters

New Delhi. Although during an important meeting with the government recently, exporters had stressed on the ban on commercial export of broken rice and non-basmati white (raw) rice and the need to remove the 20 percent export duty on non-basmati sella rice, but the government's focus is on increasing the supply and availability of rice in the domestic sector and controlling prices. Along with sella rice, the export performance of Basmati rice from the country is also going well. Indian rice is available at a much cheaper price than Thailand and Vietnam, due to which foreign buyers are getting attracted towards it.
