Purchasing of Tuvar remains weak due to lack of demand
Mumbai. Due to calm demand in finished goods, the buying of dal millers in Tuvar remains weak. Due to increase in selling and weak buying, there was a downward trend in the prices of Tuvar during the current week. During the weekend, an order was issued by the Central Consumer Affairs Department on 21 June 2024, which states that the stock limit on Tuvar will come into effect with immediate effect i.e. from 21 June and will remain in force till 30 September 2024. Under the new directive, now the stock limit has been fixed at 200 tonnes for each pulse for wholesalers, 5 tonnes for retailers, 5 tonnes for each outlet of big chain retailers and 200 tonnes for depots and for millers the production of the last three months or 25 per cent of the total annual accumulated capacity, whichever is higher. Similarly, pulses importers have been instructed that it is mandatory to unload the consignment of imported pulses (tuvar) in the domestic market within 45 days (one and a half months) after getting custom clearance at Indian ports. The order states that the firms which have stock of pulses (tuvar) more than the prescribed limit will have to reduce it to the prescribed limit by July 12. In this way, the order of storage limit on these pulses will remain in force till 30 September 2024. The government has had to take this step due to the continuous increase in the prices of tuvar. Due to continued selling by importers and sluggish demand, Chennai Tuvar Lemon witnessed a decline of Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this decline, the price of lemon remained at Rs. 11300/11350 per quintal at the weekend. Due to lack of customers, Mumbai African Tuvar witnessed a decline of Rs. 100/250 per quintal and with this decline, the price of Mozambique White remained at Rs. 11400, Gajari at Rs. 11300, Malawi at Rs. 11000 and Sudan New at Rs. 11750/11800 per quintal at the weekend.
Burma
Due to weak export demand, Burma Tuvar witnessed a decline of $ 25 per ton this week and with this rise and fall, the price remained at $ 1435 per ton at the weekend.
Delhi
Due to the fall in demand at the port, Delhi Tuvar Lemon witnessed a fall of Rs. 100 and Desi Tuvar also witnessed a fall of Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the price at the weekend remained at Rs. 11750 for Lemon, Rs. 12000 for Maharashtra Line and Rs. 1220000 per quintal for Karnataka Line.
Maharashtra
Due to the fall in demand for Tuvar dal, the buying of Tuvar by dal millers has remained calm. Due to which, this week Maharashtra Tuvar prices registered a decline of Rs. 150/300 per quintal and the prices at the weekend remained at Solapur Rs. 10700/12250, Akola Rs. 12100/12350, Nagpur Rs. 12250/12400, Latur Rs. 11700/11850, Hinganghat Rs. 11300/12145 and Ahmednagar Rs. 11400/11600 per quintal. Due to sluggish demand from dal millers, Karnataka tuvar prices have fallen by Rs. 100/200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the prices at the weekend remained at Gulbarga Rs. 11100/12222, Raichur Rs. 11338/11759, Yadgir Rs. 10711/11800 and Talikota Rs. 9000/11789 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to sluggish demand, Madhya Pradesh tuvar prices have fallen by Rs. 200 per quintal during the current week and with this fall, the prices at the weekend remained at Katni Rs. 12400/12500, Jabalpur Rs. 9000/11000, Pipariya Rs. 9000/11300 and Kareli Rs. 8500/11000 per quintal. Others
Due to the impact of all-round decline and weak buying, Kanpur Tuvar witnessed a decline of Rs. 100 per quintal and with this decline, the price remained at Rs. 10800 per quintal at the end of the week. Similarly, Raipur Tuvar prices registered a decline of Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this decline, the price remained at Rs. 12200/12500 per quintal at the end of the week.
Tuvar Dal
Due to the fall in Tuvar prices and sluggish buying, Tuvar Dal prices fell by Rs. 100/300 per quintal during the current week and with this rise, the prices at the weekend stood at Delhi Fatka Rs. 17000/17450, Katni Fatka Rs. 16150/16350, Akola Rs. 16300/17300, Latur Fatka Rs. 17300/17500, Gulbarga Fatka Rs. 16400/17000 and Kanpur Fatka Rs. 16700/17100 per quintal.
