Urad prices fall due to sluggish demand
Chennai. The downward trend in urad prices continued this week. Prices remained weak due to increased selling pressure and sluggish consumer demand. While imported urad remains available at the port, domestic arrivals are also increasing, further pressuring prices. Currently, there is a lack of buying enthusiasm at both the retail and wholesale levels, leading traders and stockists to limit their purchases. Experts believe that prices are unlikely to stabilize until demand improves. Due to increased selling pressure from importers and sluggish demand, Chennai urad prices fell by Rs. 75/100 per quintal this week, bringing the FAQ price to Rs. 6750 and SQ urad to Rs. 7400/7425 per quintal. Similarly, Mumbai urad prices declined by Rs. 75 per quintal this week, bringing the price to Rs. 6,850 per quintal at the weekend.
