International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures posted Monday losses of 7 to 10 points in the nearby contracts, with October down 62 cents at the close. The US dollar index fell $0.320 on the day to $96.950, while crude oil futures were 3 cents lower.
Crop Progress data showed 60% of the US cotton crop with bolls opening, 1% ahead of average. Harvest was 12% complete, in line with normal. Cotton conditions declined 5% to 47% gd/ex, with the Brugler500 index down 11 points to 333.
NASS released its twice-monthly Cotton Ginnings report showing 464,300 running bales ginned nationwide as of September 15, 31% below the same point last year.
The Cotlook A Index fell another 25 points to 78.40 cents on September 19. ICE certified cotton stocks were steady at 15,474 bales on September 19. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) was up 69 points last Thursday to 54.79 cents/lb.
