News Capsule: U.S. Pea Crop Conditions Improve
★ Based on data from the major pea-producing states of Montana and North Dakota, an estimated 45% of the U.S. field pea crop is rated in good to excellent condition, up from 37% a week earlier. The share of the crop rated fair declined from 34% to 31%, while the proportion rated poor to very poor fell from 29% to 24%.
★ In Montana, 53% of the crop is rated good to excellent, while 23% is in fair condition and 33% is rated poor to very poor.
★ Crop conditions remain comparatively weaker in North Dakota, where only 28% of fields are rated good to excellent. About 66% of the crop is rated fair, while 6% is classified as poor.
★ The improvement in U.S. pea crop conditions could strengthen production prospects in the coming months, potentially increasing export availability and having a positive impact on the global pea market.
