New Delhi. The Union Agriculture Minister has urged all states across the country to recognize that the time has come to expedite decision-making and to earnestly implement various schemes and programs in the best interest of the farming community.

While participating in the two-day National Kharif Seminar 2026, the Union Agriculture Minister provided the states with a clear roadmap for the agricultural sector, emphasizing that the entire agricultural ecosystem—from 'seed to market'—must be fully streamlined and organized to ensure that farmers face no difficulties at any stage.

The Agriculture Minister stated that to give fresh momentum to agricultural development and extension, all stakeholders must work together collaboratively, as success can only be ensured through collective participation.

According to the Minister, it is essential to focus not only on improving the condition and trajectory of farming and safeguarding farmers' interests but also on bringing about comprehensive reforms within the entire agricultural system. Issuing a stern warning to those involved in the sale of spurious seeds and substandard pesticides, he asserted that strict action would be taken against such elements,

and any negligence or inaction on the part of officials or personnel in this regard would no longer be tolerated. Furthermore, while advising states to formulate their own specific agricultural roadmaps, the Minister emphasized that concrete efforts must be made to ensure that the benefits of all government schemes reach every single farmer, thereby enhancing their prosperity.

According to the Agriculture Minister, a nationwide "Save the Farm" (Khet Bachao) campaign is set to commence on June 1, 2026—an initiative that needs to be transformed into a mass movement. All states are urged to undertake necessary reforms within the agricultural sector, with a particular focus on simplifying regulations for farmers.

It is pertinent to note that, given the anticipated onset of the El Niño phenomenon this year—which raises concerns regarding a potentially weak monsoon—the Ministry of Agriculture is currently undertaking extensive preparatory measures.
