Hyderabad. In Telangana, South India's leading cotton-producing state, although the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), a central agency, has launched the "Cotton Farmer" app through which cotton growers can register themselves, the state's agriculture department is also showing considerable activity in this regard.

The Telangana Agriculture Minister has directed officials to provide special training to district-level staff on the use of this app and to launch awareness campaigns specifically for cotton growers.

Tenant farmers (lessees) can also register so that every eligible grower can benefit from the price support scheme. The 2025-26 cotton marketing season is scheduled to begin on October 1st.

Ahead of this, Telangana's top minister held a review meeting with senior officials of the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) to review all preparations.

In this important meeting, farmers were assured of all possible support and assistance from the state government in procuring cotton at the minimum support price.

The central government was also expected to be actively involved. The Agriculture Minister stated that the state government is ready to provide any support necessary to support farmers.

He stated that the wholesale market price of cotton is currently approximately 1,100 rupees per quintal below the minimum support price. Therefore, the corporation should ensure its purchase in as large quantities as possible.

Preparations for cotton procurement will begin in October, and this time the number of procurement centers has been increased from 110 to 122. This will facilitate farmers in selling their produce.
